December Book Club 2024: 6 Must Read Books That Will Keep You Busy

Now it’s nearly and the cold weather has returned, the idea of staying inside and relaxing on the sofa is becoming more and more desirable. In this blog, I thought I would put together a mini book club, of all the books to read during December and even into January if you get too busy with christmas events. So if you are looking for some inspiration or a big push to get around to reading this month, here it is!

He’s a grumpy, retired kicker who says he only breaks things. I’m a thirty-year-old virgin with something he can break (and I don’t mean my heart)…

How does one get to be a thirty-year-old virgin?
In my case, start with being risk-averse and cautious, focused on building your career, then inherit your 12-year-old, special-needs brother. Done!
Zane Bradford appeared at the perfect time.
He takes my brother to equine therapy, he gives me rides to work, and he rescues me when I collapse in the shower. (Yes, he saw me naked.)
He says he only breaks things, but I only see him fixing everything. Heck, his job is as a repairman.
This grumpy, angry god with lean muscles, silky dark hair, and ice-blue eyes has taken himself out of the game.
But massage therapy is my job, and I’m ready to play.

Rachel Wells is ruining everything.
She walks into my workplace and argues with me, talks back, and defends herself.
She gives me romance books to “improve my mood,” and insists on massage therapy to ease my pain.
Chronic pain isn’t my problem—she is, with her bright green eyes and sassy attitude.
Then she tells me she’s never been kissed. (What’s wrong with the men in Birmingham?)
The more she tempts me, the more I feel my resolve weakening.
She wants to play, but I’m not going to break.

Ricki Wilde has many talents, but being a Wilde isn’t one of them. As the impulsive, artistic daughter of a powerful Atlanta dynasty, she’s the opposite of her famous socialite sisters. In her bones, Ricki knows that somewhere, a more exciting life awaits her.

So, when she is invited to rent the bottom floor of a Harlem brownstone, Ricki jumps to get a fresh start. She leaves behind her wealth and chaotic romantic decisions to realize her dream of opening a flower shop. Then one evening in February, as the heady scent of night-blooming jasmine fills the air, Ricki encounters a handsome stranger who knocks her world off balance unexpectedly.

Set against the backdrop of modern Harlem and Renaissance glamour, A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is a swoon-worthy love story of two passionate artists drawn to the magic, romance, and opportunity of New York.

is embarrassingly unlucky in life and love. Her only comfort comes from the true crime forums she trawls, desperate for more news about the case of serial murders she’s obsessed with. After all, she can’t save herself from more disappointment, but maybe she can figure out who the killer is and save another woman from losing her life.

And then handsome lawyer William Thompson is arrested. And Hannah is so full of female rage about everything he’s done and everything she’s going through, that she decides to write him a series of angry letters. She just doesn’t count on him writing back…

Each response from William is more surprising than the last. He listens. He cares. And for the first time, Hannah feels seen.

When a shocking twist gives Hannah the chance to see William, she can’t resist meeting her pen pal to work out his secrets. But what does she want him to be – an innocent victim, or her monster?

Soledad Barnes has her life all planned out. Because, of course, she does. She plans everything. She designs everything. She fixes everything. She’s a domestic goddess who’s never met a party she couldn’t host or a charge she couldn’t lead. The one with all the answers and the perfect vinaigrette for that summer salad. But none of her varied talents can save her when catastrophe strikes, and the life she built with the man who was supposed to be her forever, goes poof in a cloud of betrayal and disillusion.

But there is no time to pout or sulk, or even grieve the life she lost. She’s too busy keeping a roof over her daughters’ heads and food on the table. And in the process of saving them all, Soledad rediscovers herself. From the ashes of a life burned to the ground, something bold and new can rise.

But then an unlikely man enters the picture—the forbidden one, the one she shouldn’t want but can’t seem to resist. She’s lost it all before and refuses to repeat her mistakes. Can she trust him? Can she trust herself?

After all, she’s lost . . and found . . can she be brave enough to make room for what could be?
