8 Random Acts Of Kindness You Can Do Which Can Have A Positive Impact On Others!

Okay, so I’m a little late posting this blog post, as the official ‘Random Act Of Kindness Day’ is 17th February. However, the idea still applies for more than just one day – in fact, it’s an everyday thing! Spreading kindness each day can not only boost your happiness but also improve someone else’s mood, which can lead to better overall mental health.

A random act of kindness doesn’t have to be a huge thing; it can simply be a thank you, opening a door, visiting an elderly person or sending a little thoughtful message to someone. To celebrate a belated ‘Random Acts of Kindness Day’, I’ve put together some ideas for inspiration.

  • Donate to charity: This can be either a small or large donation to a charity that you’re passionate about.
  • Volunteer: If you have any spare time that you don’t know what to do with, why not volunteer at a local charity, animal shelter or join in with community events? Remember, all will have a positive impact.
  • Visit the elderly: You could visit your grandparents, parents, or even a neighbour. You may feel that your visit or your willingness to listen isn’t much, but for the other person, it can be the difference between having someone who listens to them and feeling completely isolated.
  • Sending a thoughtful message: Sending someone a small appreciation gift or supportive message could really help more than you may ever know.

  • Pay It Forward: Paying something forward doesn’t have to be something you’ve picked up off the shelf; instead, you could do it from the comfort of your own car, like paying for someone’s drive-thru order or paying for someone’s shopping. Whatever your price budget is, it will still be appreciated just as much!
  • Compliment Comeone: If you’re visiting a close friend or family member, give them a positive compliment on their outfit, new/different hairstyle or new decor in their house.
  • Small Gestures: This can be as simple as smiling at just 5 people on your daily walk.
  • Digital Kindness: A simple like, share or short comment could have a positive impact on a friend/family member’s small business or a close coworker’s work.

Hopefully, these few ideas will inspire you to take on a small act of kindness, because you may never know how impactful it might be to someone else’s life.
