Music Festivals Made Easy: Your Survival Guide to a Great Time!
With the summer festival season already underway, I thought I’d put together a quick survival guide to help make your time a great memory, not a traumatic experience! To effectively survive a festival, it is first necessary to prioritise your planning, comfort, and, most importantly, your safety. Also, keep yourself hydrated, wear comfortable weather-appropriate clothing & footwear – especially in the UK.

Here’s an easy list to help you remember and prepare for the music festival:
- Download the festival app: Find the specific festival app that you’ll be attending, as you find the schedules, maps and important information.
- Pack smart: When you’re attending a UK festival, it is essential to bring suncream, a hat, sunglasses, earplugs (optional), a reusable water bottle and a portable phone charger.
- Plan your schedule: Look up what acts you want to see and then plan your day from there.
- Always wear comfortable footwear: This one is probably the most forgotten until it’s too late – festivals involve a lot of walking, so prioritise comfortable & broken-in shoes.
- Must prepare for all weathers: Make sure to have a waterproof jacket and clothes that you can layer, even if the forecast looks good. The English weather can be extremely unpredictable, and never 100% trust the weather forecast.
- Remember a hydration pack: Bottled water can become experience, especially if it’s a hot day, there might be limited resources on hand at all times, so i a good idea to have a couple of reusable water bottles so you don’t have to constantly refill whilst staying hydrated.
- Know how to pitch your tent: The last thing you want to the trying to learn is how to put your tent up when you get to the festival. Trust, it will save you a lot of fuss and time wasted after your long journey, and you’ll be tired too, especially if you’re the driver.

Here’s an easy list to help you during your festival stay:
- Always be aware of your surroundings: Make sure to stay alert for potential danger, especially at night.
- Stay with your friends or people you know: Always stick closer to friends or people you know, and have a designated meet-up point if you all get separated.
- Eat regularly: When you are enjoying yourself so much, you can forget the basic needs like eating; therefore, remember to refuel your body with healthy and nutritious food in order to maintain a good energy level, as you will be walking a lot.
- Dispose of your rubbish properly: Remember to clean up after yourself before leaving, to help keep the festival ground free from rubbish by using the designated bins.
- Be respectful of others: It’s easy to forget, but be mindful of your fellow festival-goers and their personal space. Everyone is there for the same reason: to have a good time and have fun seeing their favourite artists.
Will you be going to a music festival this year? If so, which one will you be going to?
