Everything from Best Original Song to Best Cinematography, i’ve complied together a few movies that i hope will snag a staute at this year’s oscars.

Yes, it is that time of the year. The award season is soon to be upon us which means that it’s time to get hyped. The 94th annual Academy Awards will be taking place next month on March 27th, so you’ve still plenty of time to catch up on the Oscar-nominated films ahead of the big night. Some of this year’s leading nominees include The power of the Dog, West Side Story and Dune, but there is still a lot more critical darlings in the running to cosy up throughout this Feb.

Belfast

Kenneth Branagh's Airbrushed “Belfast” | The New Yorker

This is a semi-autobiographical black and white film from Sir Kenneth Branagh about a working-class family in Northern Ireland during The Troubles.

King Richard

This is a biographical drama about Richard Williams, The father and coach of tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams. Richard is determined to write his two daughters into history. Richard shapes the girl’s unyielding commitment and keen intuition when training on tennis courts in Compton, California. Together, the Williams family defies seemingly insurmountable odds and the prevailing expectations that were laid before them.

This is a Dennis Vilaneuve’s adaptation of the legendary 1965 sci-fi novel of the same name by American author Frank Herbert.

He must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to saftguard the galaxy’s most valuable substance, and to ensure the future of his family and people. West Side Story

West Side Story review: Steven Spielberg puts a radical spin on a classic -  Polygon

This a classic Broadway musical that has now been adapted into a new film by Steven Spielberg. The 1961 version was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won 10 which including Best Picture – so if this anything to go by, it’s set to do well at this year’s awards.
