Everything from Best Original Song to Best Cinematography, i’ve complied together a few movies that i hope will snag a staute at this year’s oscars.

Yes, it is that time of the year. The award season is soon to be upon us which means that it’s time to get hyped. The 94th annual Academy Awards will be taking place next month on March 27th, so you’ve still plenty of time to catch up on the Oscar-nominated films ahead of the big night. Some of this year’s leading nominees include The power of the Dog, West Side Story and Dune, but there is still a lot more critical darlings in the running to cosy up throughout this Feb.

Belfast

This is a semi-autobiographical black and white film from Sir Kenneth Branagh about a working-class family in Northern Ireland during The Troubles.

King Richard

This is a biographical drama about Richard Williams, The father and coach of tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams. Richard is determined to write his two daughters into history. Richard shapes the girl’s unyielding commitment and keen intuition when training on tennis courts in Compton, California. Together, the Williams family defies seemingly insurmountable odds and the prevailing expectations that were laid before them.

Dune

This is a Dennis Vilaneuve’s adaptation of the legendary 1965 sci-fi novel of the same name by American author Frank Herbert.

It is set on far away planet in the distant future, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding. He must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to saftguard the galaxy’s most valuable substance, and to ensure the future of his family and people. Expect stunning visuals (and a stunning desert chalamet to match)

West Side Story

This a classic Broadway musical that has now been adapted into a new film by Steven Spielberg. The 1961 version was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won 10 which including Best Picture – so if this anything to go by, it’s set to do well at this year’s awards.

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

It christmas and Diana Spencer has to spend a torturous weekend at Sandringham with the royal in-laws. Tensions are running hight as she struggles with an eating disorder and the decision to end her marriage to Prince Charles.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Here’s everyone’s favourite neighbourhood webslinger is back at it, albert not with quite the recognition that he deserved. Best Picture nomination, where are you at?

Spider-Man’s secert identity is now unmasked to the entire world, Peter Parker turns to Doctor Strange for help. But when a spell goes wrong, dangerous villains from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it mean’s to be a Spider-Man.

Cruella

It’s set in London during the 1970’s punk rock movement, Cruella follows a young, ophaned fashion designer called Estella Miller (Cruella de Vil) determined to make a name for herself, with her iconic designs. She befriends fashion legend Baroness von Hellman, thats when she embraces her wicked side to become the raucous and revenge-bent Disney villain we all know today.
