8 Things You Should Know Before Bleaching Your Hair White Blonde

Are you keen on changing your hair colour to super chic white blonde? There are many things you should know before bleaching your hair white blonde. I love a hair transformation, just as much as the next person but with this kind of shade comes a lot to consider. Lockdown saw many attempts of an at-home DIY dye job – some worked out brilliantly, while others did end so well. But thankfully I resisted the urge to brighten up my hair at home.

MAKE SURE TO CONSULT WITH YOUR CALENDAR

This really shouldn’t be a decision that you should made impulsively. Changing you hair to a bright white blonde is a serious transformation and one the will definitely will take some getting use to. You’ll probably find that in the first 24hrs, you may not even recongise yourself in the mirror and it might take at least a week to acknowledge how much you actually love it.

THERE VARIOUS SHADES OF WHITE

Ever thought that there was only one shade of white? Well, my advice would be to do a bit more research before taking the plunged and settling down into the salon chair. From a warm, creamy bleach to an almost purple, pearly white, it’s a good idea to think long and hard about what you’re looking for.

IT’S NOT A QUICK TRANSFORMATION

You might be suprise that an appointment to bleach your hair can take 4.5hrs, which will probably include plenty of technical jargon which will go straight over your head.

BEAUTY IS PAIN

This might be something that you haven’t even considered, but if you were to think about how many layers upon layers of bleach that’s going to be applied straight onto your scalp, you might find the process to be slightly uncomfortable. Not agony instead just a slight burning sensation, so I wouldn’t recommend leaving the knitwear at home as it can get a little toasty.

IT WILL INVOLVES SERIOUS AMOUNTS OF MAINTENANCE

Before making your appointment, it’s a good idea to pre-treat your hair with heaps of protective oils, as unsuprisingly, bleach can really take it’s toll.

Post-appointment, your hair will have been stripped of a lot of goodness {including; pigment, protein and oils} and might feel weaker and more damaged than usual – especially if you already have very fine textured or light blonde tones. To strengthen your hair, add moisture and nourishment back into your hair with conditioning treatments.

Also, if have the colour to the roots, then you’ll most likely need a touch-up every 6-8 weeks.

AND WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU WANT TO GO BACK…?!

When I come to a dramatic transformation to your hair colour, you will need to be patient. You’ll have two major options:

  1. Go cold turkey and grow your roots out, but if your natural hair colour is any darker than a mid blonde, then you root line with be overly dramatic.
  2. Gradually due it a deeper shade and then let your natural roots grow through. But either way, it’s still going to take fair amount of time.

IT CAN BE QUITE EXPENSIVE

Regardless, if you a actually manage to keep up with the up-keep and maintenance of keeping your hair bleach blonde, the initial appointment to start the process of bleaching you hair can be quite the investment as it can cost you upto £250. But I would still advise you not to go cheap.
