With every new year comes new adventures, ambitions, goals and challeneges. Will this year be the year where you’ll on this journey to find you dream home?

Knowing where to start isn’t alway easy. The real estate market is a really competitive and  experensive place atm. The prices of home are increasing every day, and the demands for is even greater than ever before – meaning people looking for home are struggling to find what they like and within their price range.

In today’s post, i thought i would go head and share a few tips on what you should do before going ahead and choosing to rent a apartment/house. I’m no expert, so make sure you speak to rental professionals.

LOCATION – [CHOOSE WHERE YOU WILL LIKE TO LIVE CAREFULLY]

Considering your budget is really important, but it shouldn’t be the only thing. You should also consider where you might want to live too – Does it have a good public transport? Are there any shops and facilities within walking distance? Choosing the wrong location can be the difference between feeling safe and feeling unsafe. So remember to do your research and find out which location best suit you and what you are looking for in a place.

BUDGET – [WHAT CAN YOU AFFORD]

This may sound a little obvious, but this is something that many people overlooked when they start looking at homes – you could end up wasting alot of time looking at homes that a similarly out of your price range. Don’t make this mistake! Be realistic with you budget and only look at home that you can afford and then go from there.

With the rental market is in high demand atm, so rent is getting more expensive every week. So do your research. Did you know that the average cost of rent here in the UK is between £868 – £1000. That crazy?! But with the demands for rental properties becoming hight, so does the rent prices.

IS THE TIMING RIGHT FOR YOU?

Timing is everythings. Even if you find your perfect house, if it doesn’t feel right for your, don’t force it. You really don’t want to regret your decision, so don’t rush into anything. Best the things in life come at unexpected times.

FIND OUT IF THERE ARE ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGES.

Before you enter the the crazy rental game, you should alway find out if there are any additional charges excluding rent – this why doing your research and considering your budget before hand is so important.  Once you’ve found a property that you like, check what the average cost of gas, electric, wifi and any other charges is going to be – this should give you an estimation of what you might need to pay out. If you’re unsure of what the additional charges will be, then get in touch with the estate agent that you are working with.
