5 Healthy Snacks That Will Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

Whether you are on a health journey or looking for alternative snacks to satisfy your sweet cravings. I wouldn’t say that I have sweet tooth, I believe that I sit in between being a savoury and a sweet person. Some days you may just crave something sweet and need something sweet to help relieve it.

I’ve found that fruit helps to combat sweet cravings….oh boy these snacks are so good and I knew I had to share these recipes! So here they are….let’s get started!

BLUEBERRY MUFFINS

You Will Need:

  • 150g sugar
  • 195g all-purpose Flour
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup vegetable
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup fresh/frozen blueberries
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. Add in the oil, egg, milk and vanilia extract into a measuring jug and whick to combine together. Pour the liquid ingredient in with the dry ingredients and use a fork to combin, but don’t over mix – The batter should be quick thick – then fold in the the blueberries.
  4. Divide the muffin batter evenly into the muffins cases. Sprinkle a little on top of each muffin.
  5. Bake for 15-20mins or until the tops are no longer wet and a toothpick/knife inserted into the middle of the muffin comes our clean, not with wet batter. Transfer to a cooling rack.
  6. Then serve. Yum!

STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 4 cups strawberries, finely chopped
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cups coconut oil
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • Pinch of salt

Directions

  1. In a meduim-sized saucepan over a high heat, boil together the strawberries and 3/4 cup sugar. Once it has boiled, give the ingredient a stir and reduce the heat to a simmer for 5 mins.Then remove it from the heat and let it cool down slightly.
  2. Pour in half of the strawberries mixture into a blender and blend until smooth, then add in the pureed and chopped strawberries into a bowl together and place them in the fridge to chill.
  3. Whisk together the egg yolks and remainin 1/2 cup of sugar into a medium mixing bowl.
  4. Heat up the whole milk and coconut oil in small saucepan. Then add in the vanilla and a pinch of salt. Whisk in some of the hot milk into the egg yolks to temper them, before adding the rest of the egg yolks in with the hot milk and placing the saucepan back over a medium heat and whisk constantly but slowly, until the milk is almost bubbling – you want the custard to be thick enought to the point where it will coat the back of a spoon.
  5. When the strawberry icream custard is completey cold, process it in your ice cream marker – follow the manufactor directions. Then transfer the strawberry ice cream into a freezer-proof dish and cover the top with parchment paper. Freeze until completely firm.

FROZEN GRAPES

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of grapes (red or white)

Directions

  1. Rinse the grapes under cold water for around 30 seconds and gently rub them.
  2. Make sure you check and pick out any broken ones and remove them. Remove of the rest of the good grapes from the stem, before then placing them in a food ziploc bag.
  3. Place the ziploc bag of grapes in the freeze overnight or for around 8 hours.

PEANUT BUTTER BALL BITES

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup ground flax seeds
  • 2/3 peanut butter
  • 2 tsbp honey
  • 1 cup oats

Directions

  1. Place all 5 ingredients into a large mixing bowl and stir until completely combine. Then place in the fridge for 15-30 mins – this make the mixture easier to roll.
  2. Roll the peanut butter mixture into 12 bite-size balls and can be placed in the fridge for upto a week.

APPLE & PEANUT BUTTER DIP

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp peanut butter (Crunchy or Creamy)
  • 2 apples

Directions

  1. Core and slice the apples into wedges.
  2. Spread peanut butter evenly over the sliced apples or put the peanut butter into a small serving dish and dip your apples.
  3. Enjoy!
