They are pores that are usually filled with oil/sebum, debris and dread skin cells. Blackheads are often assumed to be dirt that has been trapped, but it has nothing to with cleanlines – so don’t go scrubing your face as you may end up doing more damage than actually helping to treat blackheads.

How do you treat blackheads?

There are plenty of ways that you can treat and prevent blackheads, but the best source of treatment is to use medicated products such as; cleansers, face wash, serums. Whether you suffer from blackheads on your cheeks, nose, forehead or back, here are 7 ways that will hopefully help:

1. Use benzoyl peroxide- It helps to dissolve the dead skin cells above the top of the pimple, this helps to open it up.

2. Use steam- Firstly, steam your face to open you pores. Glently press on the sides of the blackhead with two cotton swabs. Make sure you don’t attempt to remove deep blackhead, as this can cause tramua and scarring of your skin.

3. To get rid of blackheads overnight with two-step process- Start by using a pore strip first, follow by applying salicylic acid gel just before bed.

4. Pore strips to get rid of blackheads on your nose- Pore strips are adhesive that drys by attaching to the oil, serum and dead skin cells. To remove the dirtby taking off the strip. {Tip: if you are prone to getting blackheads on your nose, then regularly use salicylic acid cleanser or serum on the area.

5. Salicylic acid- Ingredients such as; beta-hydroxy acid and salicylic acid are great at helping to remove blackheads. This is beacuse it’s oil soluble is able to deeply penetrate pores and oil glands in order to break up the debris and sebum.

6. Have you given powerful retinoids a try- Have you tried everything but nothing seems to work, well why no try giving retinoid products a try. ‘Retinoid can change the way your skin cells by developing from the inside out, to prevent the clogging of pores and that simply how acne  forms.’ Products containing retinoids can be available over-the-counter as well as prescription strength. (Bouns: It can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.)

7. Make sure to be gentle with blackheads on you cheeks- If you suffer from blackheads on your cheeks, you may fine that your skin might become drier more easily and perphaps more sensitive to retinoids, benzoyl peroxide or salicylic. By using them in smaller quantities, can prevent our skin from drying out or becoming irritated.
