At some point in our lives, we will have feelings of becoming stuck in a life that isn’t how we pictured it – maybe it’s because of your unfulfilling job, an unhappy relationship, or a general sense of feeling out of place/indifference. So I thought I would write in today’s blog post about 10 ways to break free and move forward in life.

As we go through life, a lot of the time we tend to run on autopilot without even realising or just going through the motions, then these are commonly the reasons why we often feel emotionally stuck and never feel like we are the only ones who going through this, because trust me you aren’t. Im the first one to put my hands on and say that I often feel myself feeling unhappy and unfulfilled. I can sometimes pull myself out of the emotional deep hole, but other times I just seem to slip into it without even realising it.

But before you can stop yourself from becoming emotionally stuck in your life, you first need to take some time and figure out the reason behind these feelings that you are experiencing and make some changes. Even if you only make a few changes, your mental, physical, and emotional well-being will improve for the better!

Why do you feel stuck in your life?

Getting to the root cause of why you are feeling stuck can help to narrow down different strategies to regain your sense of purpose.

Here are a few common reasons why you might be feeling mentally and emotionally stuck as of right now:

Overwhelmed, burnt out and an overloaded workload.

When we are faced with difficult life changes and times, can have you feeling like you’ve lost your sense of direction.

Not getting enough rest or overworking yourself can harm you from achieving your life goals and unsure of where to turn next.

Limiting your ability and self-sabotage.

Limiting yourself or self-sabotage is often the reason for looking for a way out of doing something. Whether you are in an unhappy relationship or career, you may have engaged yourself in self-sabotaging behaviour without end realising it, as well as doubting your self-worth and capabilities – i.e. impostor syndrome.

Unmanaged mental health conditions

If you live mental health conditions like depression or anxiety could add to your already feelings of being stuck. However, if you manage these conditions and get them under control [because yes that can be managed] you can regain your motivation and sense of purpose.

We all experience mental health symptoms throughout our lives because are the end of the day we are human and have mental health just like we have physical health.

Spending too much time and energy on making everything perfect may just slow down your progress, resulting in feeling frustrated or feeling like you have progressed anywhere in life. To get unstuck, you need to leave perfectionism behind.

Not wanting to make changes.

Digging your heels into the ground and refusing to accept changing your ways and transitioning to new things, can make it harder to move forward and progress to better things

So if you feeling stuck, the first thing that can help on identifying reasons, and once you’ve figured out then you can work out what works to help remove your roadblocks.

Being aware of your night is feeling stuck.

Before you can even consider improving your feelings, you first need to examine what might be contributing to you feeling stuck.

  • Find out what’s stopping you from moving forward – feeling scared of the unknown, feeling like a failure before you have even started or listening to other people’s opinions.
  • Figure out a default relationship pattern that has caused you to recreate familiar cycles.

There may be something that you can work on, on your own but don’t everything because you need help that you are a failure because you are not and you aren’t weak if you are considered or have already got a therapist, as can help you to tackle you own personal challenges.

Take some of the responsibility

It might seem an easy way out to blame something or someone else, but getting into the blame game is healthy or enables you to move forward. Blaming others for things that happen or don’t end up happening, can lead you to feel like you’ve given up all the control of your own life and personal choices.

However, if you take some time have an honest inventory and find different ways, you can practice forgiveness – including for yourself as well as others.

Always choose self-love

We all take the time to think about what are ideal career is or what our future goals are, but we should also invest a lot of our time in ourselves.

When we allow ourselves to love ourselves and practise self-compassion and self-care, it can help us replenish our entertainment and motivation.

And a good tip, be kind to yourself rather than being your own worst critic.

Create a vision.

There are various ways that you can develop a vision for what you want in life. By establishing an action plan and setting achievable goals.

Planing out achievable goals and visualising what success will look like, can give positive leverage the power of self-fulfilling.
