6 Dos and Don’ts for a Better Living Room.

Whether you have just moved into your new home or are looking to have a big refresh in your living room, making that first move to choosing how you want your room to look can be tricky. But don’t worry, as all of that is about to change because in this blog post, I’ve listed 6 do’s and don’ts to help fix most of your living design worries. First up it’s number 1…

  1. Don’t: Have too-small rugs.

Okay, large rugs might not come cheap compared to smaller rugs, but saying that, you’ll find an affordable option if outlook, why not wait for the sales – Remember that the end of summer sales are just around the corner and also Black Friday is only 4 months away.

  1. Don’t: Clutter up your space with too much stuff.

If you’re someone who prefers a clean and well-organized home, it can be challenging to figure out where to begin, especially when there’s a lot to tackle visually. Here are some useful tips to help you get started. When you feel like tidying up your living space, start by working on one room at a time. Trying to clean up various parts of different rooms together can be overwhelming, making it difficult to finish the task. By concentrating on one room at a time, you can avoid getting bored or forgetting which areas in each room you want to declutter.

  1. Do: Style with a throw blanket {or two!}

This might seem like a quick and simple fix, but it can be easily forgotten. Adding a styled throw to your living room can make your room look like you’ve got your sh*t together when you’re on your last nerve.

  1. Do: Put a tray on your coffee table.

Are you a tray lover? Well, here you have it! Aren’t they just fantastic, as they add more texture to the room, look pretty and can also be a super practical decor item – perfectly holds books, coasters, candles, small plants and TV remote(s)! They can be affordable at almost every price point.

  1. Do: Add a standing and table lamp(s).

Having good lighting in your home is important, specifically in your living room. Since you need lighting, why not take full advantage and go all out? Depending on your room size, varying heights will make your room look interesting and also having more than one lamp will balance the light throughout your room. Also, if you have enough lamps, you can turn off your main light can help to calm you down for the night.

  1. Do: Create a cosy conversation area with furniture.

One of the purposes of a living room is a space where you can hang out with people and talk. Whether it’s a space in your house where you all get together to watch a movie or a place that encourages conversation.

Of course, the size of your living room does depend on what seat furniture you can fit in the room – obviously won’t be able to fit in a large sofa, two chairs and a bench seat if your living room is tiny. But if you can fit in quite a bit of furniture then make sure not to line all the seats on the side of the room. Instead, put the chair on each side of the sofa – this way guests can happily converse without having to turn their entire bodies to the side.
