6 Easy Cocktail Recipes To Make You Ready For 2024 Summer.
Now that summer has officially arrived here in the UK – maybe only for a week or two however, us brits sure make the most of it everything above 12 degrees. As we have been waiting a very long time for more than one day of warmer weather and no rain.
So now we can officially say that it’s summer, I thought I would go ahead and write a blog post all about easy, yet tasty cocktail recipes that will be great for BBQs, garden parties or family/friend gatherings.
Whisky Mac
Why not welcome in the weekend with a simple cocktail? Using a spiky heat of ginger wine, paired with scotch and served on the rocks.
Ingredients
- Ice
- 25ml ginger wine
- 40ml blended scotch
- strip of pared lemon zest, to serve
Directions
- Pop a few cubes of ice into a rock glass.
- Pour over the ginger wine and scotch.
- Then stir it all gently to combine.
- Serve with a strip of freshly pared lemon zest
Hurricane Cocktail
Are you looking for a great party drink? This rum-based hurricane cocktail, plus it’s easy to make. Serve with a slice of orange and cocktail cherries for a kitsch touch.
Ingredients
- 50ml white rum
- 50ml dark rum
- 1 passion fruit
- 1 orange, juiced
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 50ml sugar syrup
- 2 tsp grenadine
- 4 cocktail cherries, to garnish
- 2 orange slices, to garnish
Directions
- Fill up a cocktail shaker with ice and pour in both rums.
- Then add the flash and seeds from the passion fruit into the shaker and orange and lemon juice, sugar syrup, and grenadine.
- Shake well – until the outside of the shaker feels icy cold.
- Pour the cocktail into two hurricane glasses and serve with fresh ice into a prepared glass. (When pouring, double strain)
- To finish, garnish each glass with an orange slice onto a skewered, pop it into the cocktail, and add a couple of cocktail cherries.
Rhubarb Vodka
This rhubarb vodka is a great summer drink. It’s also perfect if you’re growing rhubarb in your garden.
Ingredients
- 800g rhubarb, thick slices
- 1 litre vodka
- 250g sugar
- 1 vanilla pod (optional)
Directions
- Firstly, place the rhubarb into a 2-litre jar or bottle, then pour in the vodka and sugar. And if you’re using a vanilla pod, then this is the time to add that in too.
- Then mix everything, until the sugar is fully dissolved. Seal the jar or bottle and leave it to infuse.
- Place into a dark place for two months to get the best result. Strain through a muslin cloth or a fine sieve and decant into a bottle before using.
Tequila Sunrise
Master the art of a classic tequila sunrise, then garnish with cocktail cherries and umbrellas.
Ingredients
- 2tsp grenadine
- Ice
- 50ml tequila
- 1tbsp triple sec
- 1 large orange or two small ones, juiced
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 1 cocktail cherry
Directions
- Pour the grenadine into the base of a tall glass and then set it aside.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the tequila, triple sec and fruit juices.
- Shake well, until the outside of the shaker becomes cold to the touch.
- Before you pour, pour a few ice cubes into a serving glass and carefully double-strain the cocktail.
- Add more ice if needed then garnish with a cherry on a stick or cocktail umbrella.
Apple Spritz
A blend of Aperol, apple cider and prosecco equals a lovely, sophisticated cocktail. You can also top up with soda water if you want, then garnish it off with an apple slice.
Ingredients
- 2 red apple slices, to garnish
- Ice
- 80ml Aperol
- 140ml apple cider
- 80ml prosecco
- Soda water, for topping (optional)
Directions
- Place a couple of ice cubes and apple slices in two glasses, then divide the Aperol between the two glasses.
- Divide the cider and prosecco between the two glasses, then if you want a little top up add in the soda water. Stir briefly to combine, then serve.
Blackberry Vodka
This fruity vodka liqueur cocktail is an easy-to-make alcoholic drink, that is a good way to use up a pile of berries. It can also be drinkable for up to a year.
Ingredients
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 bay leaf (optional)
- 150g golden caster sugar
- 300g blackberries (fresh or frozen)
- 700ml vodka
Directions
- Pop in the blackberries, cinnamon stick, bay leaf and sugar into a large jar.
- Pour in the vodka, then seal and swirl around to dissolve the sugar.
- Place the jar in a cool, dark place and turn the jar once a day for the first week.
- After around two to three weeks, strain the vodka and decant bottles. (It can keep its colour for a few months, but will be drinkable for up to a year.)
