The Power Of Getting Ourselves Dressed In A Year When We Actually Didn’t Have To.

In a year where loungewear has become our everyday choice of clothing – no one even noticing whether we have worn the same outfit for the past week. Fashio has never been considered so important for our mental health until now. There is no doubt that what we wear has a unique ability to control our moods and emotions.

In these time especially, we have come to rely on our clothes even more than usual to get us through this crazy, uncertain year. The zoom shirt up top and pjs bottoms have had there 5 minutes of frame, but after the weeks and months of back-to-back mufti-days the novetly of it all have totally worn off.

The familiar morning routine of deciding what to wear for the day are suddenly starting to become a bit of a blur, but for those’s who are the lucky ones who have gone back to the office for a couples of days a week, then the whole routine has become a brust of pleasure. The momentous days where we are reunited with our jeans, as realistically we aren’t just reaching out for them. 

While some of us have full embraced the loungewear, bra-less life and the deightful slobbish styles, there is still the majority who want to remember the nonscripted mornings, with quitely fulfilling the practice of dressing ourseleves; fumbling over buttons in the mornings and fastening out jackets on the way to the office, or quickly applying lipstick on jam-packed train-all the viable and physical reminders of feeling useful and preparing ourseleves for the day.

Clothing our bodies each day has become a revolutionary act of self-care as in a year were we have stripped off pretty much every other joy in our lives – travel, hugs, seeing friends and family. But getting out of bed everyday and deciding what to wear for another 24/7 shift in the living room was one way to improve our social-distance spirits. We have also learnt how to turn up for ourselves when it felt like the rest of the world couldn’t physical do that.

Who knew that getting dressed would make us feel good and also what we wear can have a indispute impact on our wellbeing and productivity.  Whether you have found comfort in a cosy knitted jump or a beanie that just thrown on for a cold (social-distance, obvs!) walk with a friend, or in loungewear that has saved you from the vice-like grips of your pjs, getting changed has definitly proven to us the fundamental act of self-care.
